A Modern Bridal Tablescape at the International Museum of Surgical Science

Inside the grand marble halls of the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago, a new take on timeless elegance came to life. Recently featured in Vanity Fair, this styled editorial explores the beauty of contrast—pairing historic architecture and classical art with a modern, cinematic bridal aesthetic.

Planned and styled by Samantha Li Bridal and captured by Devae Photography, the shoot unfolds like a visual sonnet: bold yet restrained, romantic yet architectural. Each frame invites viewers to experience the tension between softness and structure, movement and stillness.

A Study in Modern Romance

The setting—defined by marble floors, intricate wall moldings, and stoic stone figures—became the canvas for a story told through light, texture, and design. Along the table, rich burgundy satin spilled across ivory linen, accented by crystal candlelight and the lush red blooms of Georgianna and Giusseppi.

To complement this vision, Tablescapes Event Rentals curated an elegant mix of silver and glass that spoke to the space’s sophistication. The silver cloche lent a whisper of old-world refinement, evoking the grace of fine dining. The Silver King Arthur flatware introduced polished ornamentation, a perfect balance of weight and shine against the soft candlelight. Finally, traditional crystal glassware reflected each flicker of flame, adding depth and radiance to the table’s design.

Together, these elements created a scene that felt cinematic—an homage to formality made modern, and a celebration of the artistry that defines Chicago’s design community.

The Bride and the Space

Model Maile of The Rock Agency embodied the vision of a modern muse, wearing a sculptural gown and veil by Taylar Made Dresses. Styled by Beauty by Lutka and Simona Vuleta Beauty, her look was timeless: luminous skin, a sleek silhouette, and just a hint of vintage glamour.

Every image captured by Devae Photography tells a story of grace in motion. The bride moves effortlessly through the neoclassical space—pausing beside towering statues, gliding past rows of flickering candles—her reflection mirrored in polished silver and glass. The atmosphere is serene and powerful, a contemporary echo of Renaissance grandeur.

The Collaborative Vision

This editorial was the result of artistry and intention, each detail layered with meaning. From the striking florals by Georgianna and Giusseppi to the intimate Super8 film by SJ Photography, the creative team transformed a Chicago landmark into something transcendent—a gallery of romance and restraint.

It’s a reminder that even within a space dedicated to history and science, beauty and storytelling can take center stage.
