January's Guest Designer Table

by
Pure Kitchen Catering
and
A Perfect Event

This month we have two extremely social media savvy guest designers, Joshua Yates of Pure Kitchen Catering and Debi Lilly of A Perfect Event, who created a table they call "Venezia". In addition to styling their gorgeous table in our showroom, they simultaneously used the time to have Matt Savage of Averyhouse take photos of the table for Debi's blog and on-line magazine and Joshua's website and upcoming ad campaign. Debi's own video of creating the table has hit Instagram and Vine and they both have a constant presence on Facebook and Twitter. They obtained a lot of social media content during one photo shoot in a very small amount of time and they encourage others to think about photo opportunities the same way. The key to social media is "content". According to Joshua, "people are so visual and they want what is in your head. Pictures are the best way." Debi cautioned that there is a very fine line between enough activity to be noticed (eight tweets a day) and causing viewers to feel bombarded by over using each medium.

When asked the question where do they get their inspiration, they both looked at each other and said enthusiastically, "travel"! (After all, Debi helped design and provided floral for Joshua's wedding last summer in the gardens of Notre Dame in Paris.) This table is a tribute to Carnival in Venice but they also wanted to tie in the Pantone color of the year, Radiant Orchid. In addition to the lovely orchids featured here, we love the way Debi showed us how to use our candlesticks in a new way-with a votive candle holder on top.

Joshua and Debi have been fast friends from the day they met at an industry event two years ago ("Meet the Experts" at Room 1520). They even remember that they met during the morning set-up. Yes, they are both into details! Debi feels that her retail shop provides the added advantage of making sure all the stationary and party details are included. Menu cards, hand decorated boxes of candies and adorable place cards are all included here at each place setting. She does her buying at the New York Gift show www.nynow.com, the New York Stationary show www.nationalstationeryshow.com, and for the first time this year, the Maison & Objet in Paris. www.maison-objet.com/en/paris

With this edition of our e-blast, we are pleased to introduce our new white lacquered table. We imagined white mirage and ghost chairs to compliment it. But as we always say, we provide the paint, and the creatives are the inspired ones who paint the picture. Never did we think that the white table's debut would be with such rich and ornate table d├ęcor, including Magnificence Gold goblets and Gold Formal chairs. We think one item that really makes it work is the marbleized runner-which is paper.

Look at all of the food shots Matt captured for Joshua to use. Can you tell he has a lot of food photography in his background?   And, as to Joshua's detail focus, would you believe he catalogs each of his photos by color, party name, location, food type and theme? Wow! That is organization. We thought the Cornish hens that Pure Kitchen's Executive Chef Nick Lacasse prepared were inspired and so was Joshua's description of his family-style service of them. He said they are more of a "sharable plated" style because so much presentation goes into their family style service. We are doing something special in this e-blast, by announcing that we will be recreating this table at Joshua's Carnival of Venice Grand Opening for his new venue, City View Lofts next Tuesday. We hope you will attend and see all the details of this table in addition to viewing it in our showroom. You may RSVP for the open house using the link below.

Here's wishing everybody a year full of creativity and inspiration!
